SYNOPSIS

Set in the Peruvian Andes in 1955, BLANCA is an English language, action-adventure dramatic thriller written by Carlos Graña. Inspired by real people and historical events, it is about the night Peru’s First Lady drove her teen maid in labor (Blanca) down a steep mountain road to a hospital—while pursued by soldiers after a coup.

The edge-of-your-seat adventure thrusts two women from opposite ends of society into a partnership for their own survival. As they battle a brutal terrain, the army, and a car neither knows how to drive, the pair must overcome blind fear and bad blood for even a remote chance to reach the end of the road.

REVIEWS

Screenwriting involves “coverage”, meaning reviews from professional script readers. These independent readers provide revision notes and an overall script rating, which helps producers quickly determine quality: 95% of scripts get a “Pass” rating, which means the script is simply no good; 4% of scripts get a "Consider” rating, meaning it needs a few tweaks but is in otherwise good shape; and only 1% get a “Recommend” rating, which means the script is in excellent shape, ready for production.

BLANCA received coverage from five readers. ALL FIVE of them gave BLANCA a “Recommend” or “Consider”. Ask for a copy.

Excerpts:

  • ‘Blanca’ is an ingenious high-octane drama... a ‘contained’ thriller – a much-prized paradigm in Hollywood, involving well-scripted scenarios with minimal locations, limited cast members, and the potential for intense drama…

  • The script's keen attention to detail pays off in layers as the story escalates… Blanca has great visual potential and should prove an attractive acting vehicle.

  • An impressive piece of writing, an authentic-feeling story that defies expectations. It is an imaginative thriller, an emotional family story... it would make a thrilling film.

A note from Carlos

I think this is a beautiful project in which to invest my life. It is also a beautiful project for any actor, cinematographer, composer, or art patron who just wants an extraordinary film made. I believe there is an audience for a story like BLANCA, and I have a budget and market data to back this up. But films cost money for salaries, food, transport, rentals and logistics. It’s not a lot of money, just more than most of us can individually spare. Hollywood producers have declined this film project, so I’m paying to film BLANCA by working for hire and by taking donations. If you could connect me to someone who is either hiring or open to donating, I would be enormously grateful.

Thank you.
