SYNOPSIS

During a violent coup in 1948, Peru’s First Lady must drive her maid and wounded chauffeur to the hospital down a deadly road in the Andes.

Set in the Peruvian Andes in 1948, BLANCA is an English language, action-adventure drama written by director Carlos Graña. Inspired by real people and historical events, it is about the day Peru’s First Lady drove her maid (Blanca) and wounded chauffeur down a death-defying, steep mountain trail to a hospital—while hunted by soldiers during a military coup.

The edge-of-your-seat adventure thrusts two women from opposing extremes of society into a partnership for their own survival along a cliff ledge.

As the pair confront a mountain terrain, brutal weather, a murderous army, and a magnificent car neither can drive, they must overcome fear, prejudice, and bad blood for even a remote chance to reach the end of the road…

REVIEWS

Screenwriting involves “coverage”, meaning reviews from professional script readers. These independent readers provide revision notes and an overall script rating, which helps producers quickly determine quality: 95% of scripts get a “Pass” rating, which means the script is simply no good; 4% of scripts get a "Consider” rating, meaning it needs a few tweaks but is in otherwise good shape; and only 1% get a “Recommend” rating, which means the script is in excellent shape, ready for production.

BLANCA has coverage from five readers. ALL FIVE gave BLANCA a “Recommend” or “Consider”. Request a copy of the coverage.

Excerpts:

  • ‘Blanca’ is an ingenious high-octane drama... a ‘contained’ thriller – a much-prized paradigm in Hollywood, involving well-scripted scenarios with minimal locations, limited cast members, [and] intense drama…

  • ‘Blanca’ has great visual potential and should prove an attractive acting vehicle.

  • An impressive piece of writing, an authentic-feeling story that defies expectations. It is an imaginative thriller, an emotional family story [that] would make a thrilling film.

A note from Carlos

I think this is a beautiful project in which to invest my life, based on the real story and relationship of two extraordinary characters: my grandmother and her employee. We’ve made a beautiful short film of the opening scene, which exemplifies the feel and caliber of the future feature-length film we want to make. And for that I am seeking funding. For the art patron, BLANCA is a gorgeous, moving story to have on film forever. For the investor, I aim to ensure an ample audience—request my business plan. If you could connect me to a donor, investor, or commercial work to finance this vision, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you!
